Mark Zuckerberg Is Back In The Crosshairs Over Election Influence And Big Tech Power As Kash Patel Says Arrests Are Coming Soon

{By Samuel A. Lopez | USA Herald} – When the Director of the FBI goes on national television and says arrests are coming—and that investigators already have “all the evidence they need”—you don’t just look at government officials.

You look at influence.

You look at power.

And right now, one of the most powerful figures in that conversation is Mark Zuckerberg.

Let’s slow this down and walk it like a case file.

In his recent interview, FBI Director Kash Patel made it clear that a federal investigation into alleged election interference is no longer theoretical—it’s operational. According to Patel, the United States Department of Justice is actively working toward charges and arrests tied to efforts he described as undermining Donald Trump and the integrity of the electoral process.

He didn’t name Zuckerberg.

But that doesn’t mean Zuckerberg isn’t part of the broader conversation.

Because if you’re analyzing this from a legal and investigative standpoint, you don’t just look at ballots—you look at infrastructure, funding, and information flow.

And Zuckerberg’s footprint touches all three.

During the 2020 election cycle, Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan directed approximately $400 million in funding through nonprofit channels to support local election offices across the country. The stated purpose was to help jurisdictions manage unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic—everything from staffing shortages to safe voting procedures.

Supporters called it necessary.

Critics called it influence.

Trump has repeatedly argued that this funding—often referred to as “Zuckerbucks”—effectively inserted private money into public election administration in a way that disproportionately benefited Democratic-leaning areas.

That claim has been widely debated, studied, and in many cases disputed by election officials.

But here’s the key point from an investigative perspective:

The scale was unprecedented.

And anytime you inject hundreds of millions of dollars into a government function as sensitive as election administration, it becomes part of the factual landscape—whether or not it ultimately crosses any legal line.

Then there’s the second front: information control.

Meta platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, played a central role in shaping how information moved during the 2020 election cycle. Content moderation decisions—particularly those involving election integrity claims, political messaging, and controversial stories—have been under scrutiny ever since.

Trump and his allies have argued that these platforms suppressed pro-Trump narratives and limited the reach of content that questioned election procedures.

Meta has consistently maintained that its actions were designed to reduce misinformation and protect the integrity of the electoral process.

Again—two narratives.

One set of facts.

And a growing federal investigation that may, at some point, intersect with both.

Now let’s talk legal reality.

Funding election offices is not, by itself, a crime.

Content moderation—whether people agree with it or not—is generally protected activity for private companies under current law.

So for any case involving Zuckerberg to move forward in a criminal context, prosecutors would need something far more specific: evidence of coordination, unlawful intent, or actions that violate clearly defined statutes.

That’s a high bar.

And as of right now, there are no criminal charges against Mark Zuckerberg related to the 2020 election.

But that’s not the same as saying the scrutiny goes away.

Because Patel’s statement does one thing above all else—it reopens the file.

It tells the public that the federal government believes there is actionable conduct somewhere in the system.

And when that happens, every major player connected to election funding, infrastructure, and information flow comes back under the microscope.

Zuckerberg isn’t just a CEO in that equation.

He’s one of the most influential private actors in modern political communication.

From where I sit, this is where the story actually gets bigger than any one individual.

It’s about the intersection of government power and private influence.

It’s about whether election systems can remain neutral when massive funding and digital gatekeeping are involved.

And it’s about whether the law, as it currently exists, is even equipped to deal with that level of influence.

Those are the questions Patel’s comments have reignited.

Not answered.

Reignited.

So, here’s the bottom line.

Mark Zuckerberg has not been charged.

He has not been named by the FBI in connection with any criminal case.

But he is part of the ecosystem now under renewed scrutiny.

And if arrests are truly coming—as Patel says they are—the scope of those actions will determine whether this investigation stays narrow…

Or expands into something far bigger, where the lines between government, technology, and elections are tested in ways we haven’t seen before.
