Epstein Links Continue to Cast a Long Shadow

Mountbatten-Windsor has faced years of scrutiny over his association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The former prince has repeatedly denied wrongdoing and expressed regret over the friendship.

Earlier this month, British police confirmed they were reviewing allegations that King Charles’ younger brother may have passed confidential government information to Epstein, based on files recently released by the U.S. Justice Department. It remains unclear whether any such information was shared directly with Epstein or with other business associates.

Previous reporting by the BBC and others suggested Mountbatten-Windsor may have disclosed confidential government reports tied to investments in Afghanistan and the U.K.’s Treasury department.

A photograph included in materials released by the Justice Department in connection with the U.S. investigation of Epstein shows Mountbatten-Windsor on all fours over an unidentified woman. The context of the image has not been detailed in court filings tied to the current investigation.

Last year, Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his royal titles over his connections to Epstein.
