Much of the internet is familiar with former kickboxer Andrew Tate, 36. Tate has made a name for himself by unleashing an untold amount of misogynistic comments about women.

This comes along with his suspected multi-level marketing scheme known as Hustler's University. Hustler's University is supposedly designed to help young men get rich for just $49.99 per month.

However, most troubling to many folks are Tate's statements about women. He's spoken about "force pimping" women, called women the property of men, and referred to women as "barely sentient."

However, on Thursday, news broke that both Tate and his younger brother, Tristan Tate, 34, were arrested by Romania authorities on human trafficking charges.

What to know about the arrest of Andrew Tate

According to prosecutors, both Tate brothers stand as suspects in a human trafficking probe. Tate and his brother are likewise believed to have involvement in various rapes and a crime ring involving the sexual abuse of women.

Additional statements from prosecutors claim the crime ring in question lured women into homes using Loverboy tactics. Subsequently, the crime ring's participants allegedly confined women, forcing them to engage in sexual acts to sell as pornographic videos.

Thus far, this story is still developing. However, both Andrew and Tristan Tate will undergo questioning from Romania's crime and terrorism division.

As of Thursday evening, "human trafficking" is trending on Twitter.

The catalyst for Tate's arrest

One day prior to Andrew Tate's arrest by Romanian authorities, he picked a fight with teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg via Twitter.

After Thunberg accused Tate of having "small d*ck energy" in response to him mocking her climate change advocacy, Tate provided a video response.

In the video were pizza boxes from a company in Romania. These boxes reportedly tipped off Romanian authorities to the whereabouts of the Tates.

News about the arrest of Andrew Tate and his brother has gone viral on social media. Many of Tate's critics likewise praised the role that Thunberg's spat with him played in his arrest today.
