The Assist the Officer Foundation is actively raising funds for a fallen Dallas police officer and two others wounded in the line of duty.
The foundation continues to support the family of Officer Darron Burks, who tragically lost his life, and Officers Karissa David and Jamie Farmer, who were seriously injured in a violent encounter.
Tragedy in Dallas
Officer Darron Burks was fatally shot while sitting in his patrol car on August 29, outside an Oak Cliff Community Center. His death marked the 93rd law enforcement officer fatality in 2024, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page. Of these, 38 were gunfire-related deaths.
Senior Corporal Karissa David responded to the shooting involving suspect Corey Cobb-Bey, who had killed Burks.
As David exited her vehicle, Cobb-Bey charged at her and opened fire, shooting her multiple times. Police reports indicate she was shot in the face during the attack.
Senior Corporal Jamie Farmer was also injured in the altercation but was later released from the hospital after treatment.
Assist the Officer Foundation
Officer David’s family has set up a GoFundMe page, to help with her extensive medical needs and long-term care. “She has a big surgery back in the hospital next week on her jaw and teeth and various other specialist appointments scheduled,” the family shared in a recent update.
