Weeks after a man was found dead during the height of the Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, investigators have released new evidence they believe could help identify the killer.
The shocking death of Vadim Kruglov, 37, a Russian national living in Washington state, has cast a dark shadow over the annual event known for art, music, and self-expression.
Discovery of a Body at Burning Man
On the night of August 30, as thousands gathered for one of the festival’s iconic burns, a participant spotted Kruglov “lying in a pool of blood.” Authorities later confirmed he had suffered a single stab wound to the neck.
The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office described the scene as particularly disturbing, with a green kitchen knife found next to Kruglov’s body. Investigators believe this was the murder weapon. A replica photo of the knife was released this week in hopes of generating new leads.
According to AP News, Kruglov was pronounced dead at the scene. Initially, deputies could only identify him as a White male between 35 and 40, but by September 3, he was officially identified as Kruglov — a first-time attendee at Burning Man.
