In 2024, technology is an undeniable part of how we live our lives as human beings.

Millions of people rely on their laptops for work, with remote jobs becoming more and more common. By the same token, technology is thoroughly integrated into how people access maps, order food, communicate with loved ones, and otherwise navigate the world.

Granted, all technology comes with risks; however, there’s been a rising amount of attention directed towards the downsides of AI and other similar devices. Just earlier this month, the public learned of the State Department’s warning that without the appropriate safeguards, AI could pose an existential threat to humanity.

This week, the Institute for the Future of Work is raising parallel alarms. According to the organization, people can see their quality of life suffer when exposed to robots, workplace AI, and different trackers.

What to know about newer forms of technology

Robots, trackers worn on the body, machine learning, and AI-based software each stand out as technologies becoming increasingly more typical in the modern world. However, the Institute for the Future of Work documents in a new study that more exposure to these elements correlates with diminished well-being and health.
