Who Was Aaron Kosminski?

Aaron Kosminski was a Polish immigrant who arrived in Whitechapel, England, in 1881 with his brother. He worked as a barber upon settling in London.

At the time of the gruesome Whitechapel murders, Kosminski was 23 years old.

He had long been considered a suspect in the infamous “Whitechapel Murders,” a series of brutal killings that terrorized London. However, no conclusive evidence had previously linked him to the crimes.

Notably, the murders abruptly ceased when Kosminski was committed to an insane asylum. He suffered from severe schizophrenia and remained institutionalized until he died in 1919.

The Legacy of Jack the Ripper

Jack the Ripper was an unidentified serial killer who terrorized London’s Whitechapel district between 1888 and 1891. Law enforcement officials investigated the violent deaths of 11 women during this period, but Scotland Yard ultimately confirmed that five of these murders were the work of a single perpetrator.
