As Steinglass questioned potential jurors, he employed analogies to sports and other scenarios to explore their ability to remain fair and unbiased. Trump attorney Todd Blanche objected to these comparisons, insisting the case was far too serious for such examples.

Though jurors pledged to set personal opinions aside, the defense team encountered challenges in revealing potential biases. Some jurors admitted political leanings but affirmed they could focus solely on the facts of the case.

One potential juror, a current New York City prosecutor, claimed not to follow national politics, saying, “I don’t really have an opinion.” However, Trump’s lawyers raised concerns about another potential juror, who had previously posted online videos celebrating Trump’s election loss in 2020.

Despite objections from Trump’s team, the judge allowed the juror to remain, noting she claimed she could remain fair and impartial. However, the judge did permit challenges to strike other jurors based on their social media history.
