Despite extensive efforts over many years, the young woman’s true identity remained shrouded in mystery. However, in a major breakthrough this year, Gagne revealed that the use of DNA technology had finally provided the critical information necessary to identify her. The woman previously known only as “Granby Girl” was, in fact Patricia Ann Tucker, who had passed away at the age of 28.
As Gagne explained, the process of identifying Patricia Ann Tucker involved extensive efforts by authorities, including the submission of her DNA to a forensic laboratory in Texas in March 2022. The goal was to extract a viable DNA sample that could be used to locate living relatives.
Finally, in January 2023, the lab succeeded in finding a relative. The relative informed law enforcement that her aunt had disappeared in the 1970s and provided the names of her aunt’s two sons. Upon speaking with one of these sons, Matthew Dale, authorities confirmed that Patricia Tucker had indeed gone missing in 1978 when Dale was just 5 years old.
DNA shows Dale was Tucker’s son
In a further development, DNA testing also confirmed that Dale was Tucker’s biological son, as Gagne reported.
