On Friday, Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough penned an op-ed for the Washington Post. Throughout the foregoing opinion piece, Scarborough explains why he believes President Trump will decline to run for re-election in 2020.

The Morning Joe co-host started off his op-ed by describing the Trump campaign as a "publicity stunt gone wildly wrong." From this point, Scarborough proceeds to elaborate on what he views as the pitfalls of the Trump Presidency. First comes the assertion that President Trump is a "bumbling bigot" who dislikes the free press. While many of the President's critics have made this claim, conservatives have pushed back. The Commander-in-Chief and many of his backers believe the media has misrepresented the words and actions of President Trump since the inception of his campaign for office. Therefore, the birth of the term 'fake news' emerged. However, while conservatives and Trump supporters have criticized what they view as a dishonest press, critics of the President have opined that the aforementioned criticisms are assaults on the free press altogether. Finally, Scarborough goes on to speculate about "which Trump family member will be the first to land behind bars." This is also another talking point of Americans who oppose President Trump. Theories regarding the incarceration of President Trump or his relatives stem from the Russia investigation. Shortly after then-candidate Trump defeated Hillary Clinton, some people expressed concerns that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. The preceding concerns furthermore engendered the Russia probe, managed by Robert Mueller. Many conservatives and Trump supporters have condemned the Russia investigation as a waste of taxpayer funds. After all, the probe has remained ongoing for over one year. However, proof of the Trump campaign's collusion with Russia has yet to surface. Nevertheless, some Americans remain convinced that damning evidence will eventually surface.

Will President Trump Run for Re-Election in 2020?

Despite Scarborough's opinion piece for the Washington Post, President Trump has affirmed that he will seek re-election in 2020. His forthcoming campaign slogan is "Keep America Great." Finally, President Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump has already commenced fundraising and working on the Trump 2020 campaign. President Trump has not (yet) responded to Scarborough's claims that he will not seek re-election in 2020.
