Witnesses Describe the Death of John Lennon
The documentary includes harrowing eyewitness recollections from those present at the Dakota that night.
Jay Hastings, the front desk worker on duty, described the horrifying moment Lennon ran into the lobby after being shot:
“He runs past me. He goes, ‘I’m shot.’ He had blood coming out of his mouth. He just collapsed on the floor.”
Hastings said he removed Lennon’s glasses and placed them gently on the desk as Yoko Ono screamed, “Get an ambulance, get an ambulance, get an ambulance.”
