In a YouTube video segment from WCVB, legal analysts suggested that the texts could indicate jealousy as a potential motive, but not necessarily on Read’s part.

“The prosecution wants the jury to think Karen Read was angry at John. But these texts could also support the defense’s claim that someone else had a motive,” one commentator noted.

The defense maintains that O’Keefe entered the home of Brian Albert, the fellow officer whose house he was found outside. And he was beaten inside, then placed in the snow, contradicting the official claim that Read ran him over.
