Meta has officially launched its new Meta AI app, which replaces the “Meta View” app for Ray-Ban smart glasses and also serves as a standalone chatbot platform.

This move signals Meta’s intent to challenge the likes of ChatGPT by offering a full-featured conversational AI assistant directly to users, even without the wearable hardware.

But beneath the surface of this high-profile launch, leaked documents obtained by Business Insider from contractors at Scale AI — one of Meta’s key AI training partners — offer a rare look into how the tech giant trains, tests, and applies safety protocols to its AI models.

A Social Chatbot with Broad Ambitions

According to Meta’s official blog post, the Meta AI app isn’t just about functional assistance — it’s meant to be social and communal.

“And just like all our platforms, we built Meta AI to connect you with the people and things you care about. The Meta AI app includes a Discover feed, a place to share and explore how others are using AI. You can see the best prompts people are sharing, or remix them to make them your own,” the company wrote.
