Officials Respond to Public Panic
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy addressed the unusual drone activity in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “We are actively monitoring the situation and in close coordination with our federal and law enforcement partners on this matter. There is no known threat to the public at this time.”
Murphy also convened a briefing with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), state police, and congressional representatives to discuss the matter.
Despite reassurances, state officials are taking these incidents seriously. The FBI has urged the public to report any drone sightings and is actively investigating the phenomenon.
