The War Against Robocalls, One Lawsuit at a Time

Jason Harrow, attorney for Nomorobo, drew a stark line in the digital sand: “Robocalls are more than just an annoyance — they cost Americans billions each year,” he said. “This lawsuit seeks to hold Synchrony accountable for thousands of illegal robocalls that directly harmed Nomorobo and the customers who rely on Nomorobo to block these calls.”

Nomorobo, which helps consumers block robocalls by tracking repeat offenders, says the Synchrony barrage not only wastes its resources but weakens its ability to protect its users effectively.

Digital Spam, Real-World Consequences

Nomorobo argues that every illegal call made by Synchrony to its honeypot imposes measurable costs, from backend tech support to database maintenance. And unlike individual plaintiffs in TCPA cases, Nomorobo says it’s uniquely harmed as a business trying to keep robocallers out of America’s phone lines.

The suit names Charles Gerstein and Jason Harrow of Gerstein Harrow LLP, and Jonathan J. Einhorn as legal counsel for Nomorobo. As of Friday, Synchrony had not responded to the complaint or named legal representation.
