The Contract Dispute at the Heart of the Case
The lawsuit stems from what Offset characterizes as a breach of contract regarding the song “Worth It” from his album “Set It Off.” According to court filings, the dispute began when both parties initially reached an agreement through ChaseTheMoney’s former manager, J. Hill. The original terms were allegedly accepted by both sides at the time of negotiation.
The situation became contentious when ChaseTheMoney brought on new management. Court documents indicate that under the new management’s direction, ChaseTheMoney allegedly demanded compensation significantly exceeding the original agreement—specifically, more than five times the original producer fee and double the previously agreed-upon royalty rate.
This dramatic increase in compensation demands appears to be the catalyst for Offset’s decision to pursue legal action. The rapper’s legal team argues that the original producer agreement was properly executed and that the subsequent demands constitute a breach of the established contract.
