“Behavior like this has no place in our workplace and we will not tolerate it,” he continued. “It clearly violates multiple policies that all employees must adhere to — including our Code of Conduct and Policy on Harassment, Discrimination, Retaliation, Standards of Conduct, and Workplace Concerns,” Rackow added.
Project Nimbus
The protests were organized by No Tech for Apartheid (NTFA), which appears to be an employee group which has voiced opposition to Project Nimbus. NTFA quickly denounced the firings claiming they were retaliatory and unjustified.
Project Nimbus, a joint venture between Google and Amazon, has become a focal point of dissent within the tech giant’s ranks. The initiative, reportedly valued at $1.2 billion, entails providing artificial intelligence and cloud services to the Israeli government and military.
Google contends that Project Nimbus is not geared towards military or classified endeavors and emphasizes the company’s commitment to ethical business practices. And claims it does not favor one country over another contractually.
