A familiar name in the local craft beer scene is pressing reset, while the city’s dining landscape continues to churn with openings and closures.

A Strategic Restructuring, Not a Shutdown
4 by 4 Brewing Company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Jan. 15 in the Western District of Missouri, according to court records. The brewery’s owners described the move as a “strategic restructuring” aimed at securing the company’s long-term financial footing.
The filing follows an unsuccessful effort to raise funds publicly. Instead, the brewery is now reorganizing its debt with the backing of a private investor.
“Like many small breweries, we’ve faced significant financial headwinds in recent years,” the owners said in a statement. “This restructuring allows us to realign our finances, strengthen operations and keep doing what we love — serving our community and brewing great beer.”
