Stephen Curry and Anthony Edwards addressed the situation in Minneapolis after the death of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old nurse killed in an incident involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The shooting has fueled protests across the city and added tension around federal immigration enforcement operations. The Minnesota Timberwolves were originally scheduled to host the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, but the league moved the matchup to Sunday as the city dealt with the fallout from the incident.

After the rescheduled game, Curry spoke about arriving in Minneapolis and seeing demonstrations firsthand. He described the turnout as striking and said the response felt unified.

“You can kind of feel it when we got here two days ago. The protests going on downtown were amazing to watch, the turnout, the peaceful protest, the unified voice, and you feel like that could turn the tide in a more positive direction,” Curry said.

Curry added that he followed coverage closely while the team was off the floor and said he hoped the moment would lead to decisions that reduce tension.

“A lot of change needs to happen, and when you’re here, you feel it. I was glued to the TV yesterday when we weren’t playing, watching the coverage, understanding what was going on, and trying to get knowledgeable about it. Hopefully, the community comes together and the right decisions are made so there’s a more peaceful environment here,” he said.

He also returned to the topic of the protests and said the size of the crowds stood out, particularly given the weather conditions.

“I’ve got videos on my phone of it all the way down. It was like three straight hours in 10-degree weather,” Curry said. “It was beautiful to see that turnout, and it speaks to how important it was for people to have their voices heard. Despite the elements and the streets right outside our hotel, they were out there, and it was amazing to watch.”

Edwards offered a brief message of support, saying his focus was on the people affected.

“I just love Minnesota, all the love and support that they show me,” Edwards said. “Me and my family definitely praying for everybody.”

Golden State won 111–85, and the teams are scheduled to meet again Monday.
