 “When people perceive they’re being denied access to information, their desire to obtain it intensifies, driven by a sense of rebellion and the need to restore autonomy,” she explains.

Additionally, efforts to suppress information can erode trust in institutions. “When people realize that information is being withheld, they may distrust the motives and credibility of the censors, seeking alternative, sometimes unreliable, sources,” Dober warns.
