Cannabis Dispensary Supervisor Transgender Bias

A former supervisor at a Branford, Connecticut, cannabis dispensary has withdrawn her claims that her colleagues targeted her for being transgender and tried to get her in trouble at work by falsely claiming she was high on the job, targeting that allegedly led to her termination.

Livia Bacon withdrew her claims Thursday in a filing with the Superior Court of Connecticut, where she brought her original complaint in December before her former employer removed the case to federal court in February. Her withdrawal comes just more than a week after Rise Branford, her former employer, filed its answer to her April amended complaint on May 21.

In her suit, Bacon said some of her superiors had created a hostile work environment, which included “barking orders” at her and treating her with disrespect while not treating cisgender employees in the same demeaning way. Bacon also said she was “blindsided” by a supervisor who allegedly harangued her for being under the influence at work when she in fact had used a CBD vape pen in her car, which the suit said could not make her high, unlike a THC vape pen.
