Trump says his relationship with McConnell “has been outstanding”

President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell showed solidarity on Monday, an effort to cover frictions between the gentlemen.

Over the past few months Trump expressed disappointment with McConnell primarily due to his failure to pass the legislation to replace and repeal Obamacare.

During a joint conference on Monday, the President told reporters that his relationship with McConnell  “has been outstanding.”

According to Trump, they were friends long before he entered politics and early into the senator’s political career. He said, “We’ve been friends for a long time. I think, at least as far as I’m concerned — closer than ever before. And the relationship is very good.”

Trump and McConnell are working hard together

The President also emphasized, “We’re fighting for the same thing,” adding that they “have been working together long and hard.”

Trump said. “My relationship with this gentleman (while gesturing toward the senator) is outstanding, has been outstanding.” According to the President, they are working hard to pass the tax reform legislation for the American people. They are also continuing their effort to overhaul Obamacare. The President said they are “getting close” on healthcare and expressed confidence that they’re “going to have a vote.”
