Berks County, PA - Two young people were shot late Saturday night in an incident that occurred on Wilcox Road in Douglass Township. The victims, identified as juvenile males, were walking alongside the 1200 block of Reading Avenue when the shooting took place. The Douglass Township police responded to a report of gunshots shortly before midnight. Police Chief John Dzurek stated that an unidentified vehicle, with unknown occupants, drove by the victims and fired up to three shots from the car window. One victim sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen, while the other was shot in the shoulder and knee. Both victims were rushed to Reading Hospital, where they are expected to survive their injuries. Chief Dzurek revealed that there might have been an altercation at a residence in Earl Township, which could be connected to the incident. As the investigation progresses, Douglass Township police, in collaboration with the Berks County Detectives Unit, are interviewing witnesses and processing the evidence found at the scene. "We believe this was an isolated incident, and there is currently no danger to the public," assured Chief Dzurek.
