Although the Zaporizhzhia region has been annexed by Russia, the city of Zaporizhzhia remains firmly under Ukrainian control.
About Motor Sich
Ukraine’s JSC Motor Sich, founded in 1907, designs and builds cruise missiles and turbo jet engines for planes, helicopters, and military vehicles.
The company is also one of the largest global military technologies companies. And it recently began engineering and producing satellites and cruise missiles.
For many years Motor Sich exported 75 percent of its engines to Russia which was their largest customer. And at its peak the company had over 29,000 employees.
In 2014, in the wake of the first Russian invasion of Crimea the company was banned from doing business with Russia. And Motor Sich started doing business with China who maintained a partnership with Russia.
In 2021, the Chinese made its second attempt to take over ownership of the company completely.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree, imposing sanctions on the Chinese.
