Undeterred by the bans, the participants of the World Naked Bike Ride remained committed to their cause. Despite the arrests and prohibitions, they insist they are bringing attention to environmental concerns while advocating for public nudity.
The event has previously amassed thousands of participants in London and other locations.
The clash between the event’s intentions and the law has led to tensions between organizers and the authorities.
Mr. Feunteun’s arrest during a stage in Millau near Clermont-Ferrand, central France, sparked controversy and accusations of “state intimidation.” He voiced frustration at being treated as both an “ecoterrorist” and a “sexual delinquent.”
History of arrests during the World Naked Bike Ride
In 2004, Conrad Schmidt organized the first World Naked Bike Ride. He had previously put together the Naked Bike Rides of the group Artists for Peace/Artists Against War (AFP/AAW).
