The Ukraine-Russia peace talk negotiations ended with no substantial positive results. Both sides have agreed to continue talking and will meet again. The talks will take place at the Polish-Belarus border "in the next few days."

Monday’s peace summit began in the Belarus border town of Gobel shortly before 1 p.m. local time.

Before the meeting, Ukraine's President Zelensky urged Russian troops to lay down their weapons and called for immediate EU membership.

Russia was asking Ukraine for complete surrender.

The UN estimates that more than half a million refugees have already fled Ukraine for neighboring countries. The Ukraine-Russia conflict is a world crisis.

Russian billionaire present at talks

Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian president Vladimir Putin were not present. Russian-Israeli billionaire Roman Abramovich, who owns Chelsea Football Club attended at the request of Ukraine, according to the Jerusalem Post. Abramovich, who is Jewish has close ties to the communities in Russia and Ukraine. And so does Zelensky.

Putin-backed Belarus President Lukashenko called Zelensky on Sunday and offered to guarantee his safety. In an attempt to get him to attend the peace summit on the Ukraine border with Belarus, saying he would take “responsibility for ensuring that all planes, helicopters and missiles stationed on the Belarusian territory will remain on the ground during the Ukrainian delegation's travel, meeting and return.”

Zelensky declined. He chose instead to stay with the troops fighting in the Ukraine capital city of Kyiv.

Dire warning from Belarus 

On Monday Lukashenko was warning that the crisis in Ukraine could spark a global conflict, and he issued a statement: “Russia is being pushed towards a third world war. We should be very reserved and steer clear of it. Because nuclear war is the end of everything.”

Online photos of Lukashenko readying his troops surfaced Monday morning. The rogue leader still claims that the Belarus military is not involved with the conflict. 

Russia amassed its military in Belarus in order to launch the initial attack from his side of the border. And the Ukrainian government says that they are being hit with cyber-attacks from their bordering country.

An unnamed US administration source is claiming that Lukashenko will send troops into Ukraine. “It’s very clear Minsk is now an extension of the Kremlin,” the source said.

Aftermath Ukraine-Russia talks

In a sign that sanctions are working, Russia's stock exchange remains closed, and the ruble has been plummeting. And Russian bank interest has gone from 9 to 20% on Monday. 

Russian Football clubs Fifa and Uefa have been suspended. And their national sports teams are banned from all competitions.

ABC news reported that Vladimir Putin told French President Emmanuel Macron he will stop strikes against civilian targets. And that he'll preserve civilian infrastructure to secure main roads, including the road south of Kyiv.

President Biden had a phone conference with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Romania, the UK, Canada, the European Commission, European Council and NATO to discuss the events in Ukraine.
