Despite being tied up in a New York courtroom for weeks 2024 Presidential candidate Donald Trump has started having campaign rallies. Thousands of supporters showed up Thursday to a rally in the Bronx.

Campaign Rallies

 This was his first rally in New York since 2016.

On May 11 Trump held a campaign rally in New Jersey, which is also a historically blue state.  It is estimated that up to 100,000 supporters joined him on the Jersey Shore.

On Wednesday former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley announced she would be voting for the former President in November. 

The former UN ambassador had kept quiet about the prospect of backing Trump after dropping out of the 2024 presidential race in early March. She ultimately said she would support her onetime rival. And was adamant that President Biden has been a “catastrophe.” She also emphasized that Biden was terrible on policy.

After Trump responded in an interview with local News 12.

"I think she's going to be on our team because we have a lot of the same ideas, the same thoughts," Trump said of the former UN Ambassador. 

 "I appreciated what she said. You know, we had a nasty campaign, it was pretty nasty. But she's a very capable person, and I'm sure she's going to be on our team in some form, absolutely."

Vice Presidential Possibilities

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum stirred interest in contenders for vice president. He told The NY Post after the New Jersey rally that the 45th president had up to 50 people on the list.

Former President Trump, 77, explained that he’s waiting to announce his running mate choice until the start of the Republican National Convention on July 15. Traditionally, the Republican or Democratic nominee for vice president is confirmed during the national convention. 

He has been avoiding any public indications of who his VP may be.

During the News12 interview, Trump did mention four possible Veeps. This includes former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and JD Vance (R-Ohio) and House GOP Conference chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY).

The list of VP possibilities also reportedly includes Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and former Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

“We have so many, I don’t want to do that, we have so many,” he said when asked to identify his top three choices.
