According to the black box data, the pilots of the Voepass Linhas Aéreas-operated plane reported a failure in the aircraft’s de-icing system just before the aircraft spiraled out of control and crashed.

The de-icing system, which is responsible for preventing ice accumulation on the wings, malfunctioned and switched on and off several times. Two minutes before the crash, one of the pilots commented on the significant ice build-up, which likely contributed to the loss of control.
