The breakthrough in the case came when Ross was arrested on Monday in connection with the abduction. Local media reports indicate that he left a chilling ransom note at Sena’s parents’ residence.
Charlotte had embarked on a solo bike ride around Loop A at the State Park in Gansevoort, New York, that day. Initially, she had been riding with friends, but she decided to do one last lap on her own, and it was during this ride that she mysteriously vanished.

Authorities eventually located the fourth-grader hidden in a camper owned by Craig Ross Jr., who is now charged with kidnapping.
The identification of the suspected abductor was achieved by matching fingerprints found on the ransom note to Ross in a criminal database. New York Governor Hochul confirmed this critical detail to CNN, revealing that the fingerprints were linked to Ross’s DWI arrest back in 1999.
He only had a DUI on his record. He was not listed on the New York State Sex Offender List.
