DuPont Sells Aramids Business to Arclin

DuPont Sells Aramids Business to Arclin in a blockbuster $1.8 billion transaction that will shift two of the most iconic synthetic fibers—Kevlar and Nomex—into the hands of the Georgia-based materials science firm. The deal, backed by private equity powerhouse TJC, marks a seismic shift in the global advanced fibers market.

The Terms of the Deal

The agreement, announced Friday, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026. DuPont said it will walk away with $1.2 billion in pretax cash, a $300 million note receivable, and a 17.5% equity stake in the new Arclin entity—valued at roughly $325 million.

DuPont’s legal counsel is Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, while Kirkland & Ellis LLP is advising Arclin and TJC.

A Strategic Exit

The move comes as DuPont accelerates its ongoing restructuring. The company is also spinning off its electronics business, Qnity, with a scheduled launch on Nov. 1.

Calling the divestiture “another important step,” DuPont CEO Lori Koch said the sale will sharpen the company’s strategic focus and improve its overall growth and margin profile.
