“We are devastated by the events of May 13, but thankful that no lives were lost. The safety of our staff and patients remains our top priority,” the clinic wrote. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement.”
The fertility center temporarily closed its Palm Springs location and referred patients to its other offices while repairs and investigations continue.
Suspect identified and Under Investigation
The FBI identified Guy Edward Bartkus, 25, of Twentynine Palms as the primary suspect in the bombing.
The head of the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, Akil Davis, said, “We are fairly confident that Mr. Bartkus is our primary person of interest. We are working through other technical means to positively identify the decedent here, but what we believe at this moment based on the evidence we’ve gathered is that is Mr. Bartkus.”
“I can confirm that we are executing a search warrant at that location in Twentynine Palms as a result of this explosion here,” Davis said. “We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public in the Twentynine Palms area,” suggesting the suspect is dead.
