When Insidious fans last saw the Lambert family, Josh and Dalton were each being hypnotized. This happened so they could forget their abilities to travel via astral projection into the dark, supernatural realm known as the Further.
After the second installment of Insidious, fans received Insidious 3 and Insidious 4, both of which served as prequels to the initial Insidious movies. The subsequent installments also focused more on fan-favorite psychic Elise Rainer, rather than the Lambert family.
Insidious 5, also known as Insidious: The Red Door, picks up nine years after the events of Insidious 2. This time, Dalton is no longer a little boy, but a young man heading off to college.
Though, the demons of his past have yet to be fully vanquished.
The final battle in the Further
The latest installment of the Insidious series reveals that both Josh and Dalton suffered adverse side effects from undergoing memory suppression.
The efforts to keep the father and son from remembering their astral projection abilities also carried over into other parts of their lives, causing tensions and stress within the family.
