KemperSports, an Illinois-based golf course and hospitality management company, is facing mounting legal trouble as multiple lawsuits have been filed against it following a significant data breach earlier this year. The company, which manages over 140 golf courses, private clubs, sports venues, and resorts nationwide, experienced a breach on April 1 that resulted in the theft of personal information.
KemperSports Data Breach Suits : New Lawsuits Filed
This week, two additional federal lawsuits were filed, bringing the total number of cases related to the data breach to at least four. The latest lawsuit was filed by Kentucky resident William Campe, who is seeking damages through a proposed class action in Illinois federal court. Campe’s lawsuit claims the data breach was foreseeable and could have been avoided had KemperSports implemented stronger security measures, such as enforcing stronger passwords, firewalls, and antivirus software, and restricting access to sensitive information.
