Driving through the city, possibly lost in his thoughts or focusing on his duty, Clinkunbroomer faced the tragic end of a bullet – presumably because he bore the uniform. Having joined the Palmdale sheriff’s station in 2018, Clinkunbroomer’s dedication was evident. He was not just an officer; he was a field training officer, having served the department for nearly a decade.

Dedication ran in the Clinkunbroomer family. Both his father and grandfather wore the same badge with pride. “Just days after stepping into a new chapter of his life with an engagement, this devastating act cut short his blossoming journey,” lamented Luna.

Luna’s tribute to Ryan painted the picture of a man for whom service was not just duty, but a calling. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Luna penned, “Our deputy was more than an officer; he was family, he was community. He epitomized courage and dedication to justice.”

A Disturbing Trend

This incident chillingly mirrors an ambush from three years ago, where surveillance footage captured a cold-blooded assault on two deputies at a train station. And, as if this trend wasn’t alarming enough, a recent report from the Fraternal Order of Police unveiled harrowing statistics: 83 ambush-style attacks on officers in 2023 alone, with 15 of those resulting in tragic fatalities.
