Tech giant Microsoft unveiled a new digital health feature Thursday, introducing the Microsoft Copilot Health AI tool, a dedicated environment designed to help people review medical data, explore health insights and locate care providers.

The feature, called Copilot Health, creates what Microsoft describes as a “separate, secure space” within its AI assistant where users can discuss lab results, review medical records and analyze wearable-device data. The rollout will occur gradually, meaning it will not be immediately available to all users. Those interested can join a waitlist for early access.

A Digital Health Companion—Not a Replacement for Doctors

Microsoft emphasized that the Microsoft Copilot Health AI tool is not designed to diagnose illnesses or replace medical professionals.

Instead, the platform acts as a digital guide, helping users better understand complex health information—much like a translator decoding technical medical jargon into everyday language.

Users will be able to import medical records from more than 50,000 hospitals and healthcare organizations across the United States through integrations with HealthEx. Lab test results can also be uploaded through Function Health.

Wearables and Health Data Integrated

The system can also analyze data gathered from wearable devices.

According to Microsoft, the Microsoft Copilot Health AI tool supports more than 50 wearable devices, including products from Apple, Oura, and Fitbit.

The Copilot Health homepage can display real-time wellness indicators—such as step counts or other activity metrics—depending on what information users choose to share. It can also display reminders for upcoming medical appointments.

Searching for Doctors and Specialists

Another feature allows users to locate medical professionals through real-time provider directories connected to the platform.

Using the tool, people can search for doctors by specialty, geographic location, spoken languages or accepted insurance plans—transforming the AI assistant into a kind of digital health concierge.

Reliable Sources and Expert Guidance

Microsoft said the Microsoft Copilot Health AI tool has been designed to prioritize trustworthy information.

Responses generated by the system draw from credible health organizations in more than 50 countries, the company said. AI answers will include citations and links to sources, as well as expert-written answer cards from Harvard Health Publishing.

The aim is to give users transparent references rather than opaque AI-generated explanations.
