Apology for tearing up Israeli Hostage Posters

New York County Defender Services, the organization employing Victoria Ruiz, swiftly condemned her actions as “highly insensitive.”

Lupe Todd-Medina, a spokesperson for the organization, stated that Ruiz had attended a public vigil in her capacity as a private citizen. Nevertheless, her actions at the event were considered unacceptable, particularly given the bias and insensitivity they conveyed.

After conducting an internal investigation into the incident, New York County Defender Services decided to accept Victoria Ruiz’s apology.

She pledged to “do better” in the future. Todd-Medina explained, “Ms. Ruiz has apologized to those who were hurt or confused by her actions. After an internal review, and a pledge by all involved to do better, we accept this apology and now refocus on the vigorous pursuit of our mission: achieving justice and dignity for every individual we represent.”
