Plano Burglary Arrest with Drone Assistance
In Plano, Texas, police used drones earlier this month to arrest a burglary suspect inside a business on K Avenue. According to the Plano Police Department, officers responded to a call on August 8 after a business owner reported seeing a masked man on live security footage. The suspect was spotted filling a bag with items inside the building.
When officers arrived, they established a perimeter and launched drones, which detected a heat signature showing the man hiding in the northwest corner.
Despite repeated commands to surrender, the suspect tried to conceal himself under boxes. A K9 unit ultimately located and detained him. Police said the man, whose name has not yet been released, was treated for minor injuries before being taken into custody.

In another case, police in El Cajon, California, used drones to apprehend a man suspected of stealing shoes from a Vans store. According to local reports, the drone tracked the suspect and directed officers to his exact location. He was detained without incident.
