Over the past several months, all eyes have been on the presidential campaign of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. He entered into the 2024 White House race after much speculation and anticipation about his potential candidacy.
Since getting in, DeSantis secured a historic endorsement from Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. He furthermore landed the backing of several lawmakers in South Carolina after former GOP contender Tim Scott dropped out of the race.
In less than one week, the Florida governor will also be debating his Californian counterpart, Gavin Newsom.
This debate is highly looked forward to, as both governors have repeatedly traded blows with one another for the better part of two years. Likewise, there is a lot of speculation that Newsom will eventually get into the 2024 race, once Democrats collectively determine that Biden isn’t their best bet after all.
In the meantime, DeSantis continues making the case to Republican voters of why he’s the best candidate for the nomination. Amid this journey, he’s locked in yet another endorsement, this time from Texas Rep. Chip Roy.
What to know about DeSantis’ latest endorsement
On social media, Roy declared he “[stands] 100%” with both DeSantis and his wife, Casey DeSantis. The Texas congressman then lauded them both as “decent” and “good” individuals, before stressing the United States could benefit from having this in leadership.
