Scam Alert: Crib of Art Canvas Store Accused of Scamming Consumers

Buyer beware! If you are shopping online at the Crib of Art website, you need to read this article before you buy anything. And perhaps consider spending your hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

The self-styled “Crib of Art ~ For Artful Living” is a very effective online sales platform. The site claims that “Every room deserves its happiness with art.” And promises its mission is to “make the perfect art for any room, because we firmly believe that art is the soul of delight.” But don’t believe anything you see on this site!

The Crib of Art (COA) may be an elaborate international scam that is taking money from people and not delivering on many of the promises made on their website.

The reviews directly on Crib of Art seen on Loox are questionable. Loox is a review site that is directly linked to and operated by the COA site.

Every review shown on this site is 4.5 to 5 stars. This writer believes they are cherry picking only good reviews. Any negative reviews of the COA are allegedly deleted from this site.

According to the COA they have the ability to “temporarily or permanently hide or delete reviews after they are published.” They claim to ban reviews that are vulgar or fake, but it appears that any bad reviews are not published here.

It is also important to note that on Loox reviews onsite are paid with “a future purchase discount for adding a photo or a video to their review.”

Check Trustpilot or Reviews.io for the real story.

The images on the website certainly are beautiful. And the reviews seem wonderful. But more than half of what we believe to be legitimate reviews claim that they never received their order. And if they did receive their order, it was very low-quality, not what was ordered and/or damaged.

Crib of Art Undelivered Promises

The Crib of Art has an appealing website filled with beautiful images of art for sale. It went online in 2019.They claim to have locations in Amsterdam, New York and Riga. They also claim to be “a global community of independent artists from 10+ countries.”

We have been unable to verify any brick-and-mortar address in any of the 3 so-called main locations.

The only phone number available appears to be 0639199165 which tracks back to the Netherlands. And the only email address we could find is linked to the website as [email protected].

The site promises “3-7 business days shipping to North America and 4 to 10 business day shipping to Europe and the rest of the world.”

One of the most common consumer complaints is that buyers have been waiting for months and never received their purchases. And if they are lucky enough to get a response from customer service, they are assured that their purchases are “on the way.”

To make matters worse customers complain that the company often refuses to provide tracking numbers to prove their order has even been shipped.

Customer Service is Non-Existent

Many of the reviews claim that the customer service is “automated only” and extremely unhelpful. Multiple users complain that they never received a response to their repeated emails.

Reviewers also claim that the company rarely sends tracking information to confirm the items have been shipped.

Multiple users ordered hundreds of dollars' worth of art that was never shipped to them. Most of them were unable to obtain a refund from the company. And ultimately had to file a dispute with their payment platform or credit card company.

Overwhelmingly Negative Reviews

Check Trustpilot or Reviews.io to get access to the overwhelmingly negative reviews. If you are looking at reviews on the company’s website, you will not see these bad reviews.

According to Trustpilot “This company’s Trust Score is currently unavailable due to a breach of Trustpilot’s Guidelines.”

Its automated fraud detection software discovered that they had a large number of fake reviews that were positive. And Crib of Art has not claimed its profile, verified any company details or responded to any positive or negative reviews.

Reviews.io shows that less than half (46%) of the reviewers would recommend Crib of Art.

The art canvas store has a 3-star average rating from 198 reviews. Only 91 of the reviewers rank the service as 4- or 5-star quality. And 107 claim the service is subpar and only merits 1 to 3 stars.

One verified buyer purchased $540 worth of art and it was never shipped to him in the US.

Another reviewer ordered 11/23/23 and as of 1/18/24 they still do not have delivery. And customer service refuses to help.

Many reviewers even claim that Crib of Art is a scam site.

One of the reviewers claims that “The company sells illegal pictures without having the ip rights to it.”

Return and Warranty

The website promises “A lifetime warranty, full replacements within 5 years.”

They go on to claim that “We have a satisfaction guarantee on all orders, in case you are not happy with your purchase we have a 30-day return policy. No questions asked.”

It is posted on the site that the lifetime warranty “means if your painting fades during its lifetime we will provide a free replacement.”

Most reviewers never received a refund. In the rare circumstance that a buyer was able to make direct contact with customer service the representative sometimes tried to reduce the amount they were willing to refund. And refused to pay for shipping for returned items.
