By the time federal authorities intervened, more than one billion dollars had been solicited from hundreds of thousands of individuals worldwide.

The Human Cost of the Fraud

While the financial figures are staggering, the human impact is even more profound. During the sentencing proceedings, the court heard from victims who described the total destruction of their lives. Letters read by Judge Torres detailed the heartbreaking reality of people who lost their entire life savings.
