By feeding an AI system with his father’s letters, essays, and musical compositions, Kurzweil created a digital replicant.
He writes, “We are already creating through our digital activities enormously rich records of how we think and what we feel. During this decade, our technologies for recording, storing, and organizing this information will advance rapidly.”
By the late 2020s, Kurzweil expects “highly realistic” non-biological recreations of people, followed by the possibility of living bodies. He suggests that replicants might eventually inhabit cybernetically augmented biological bodies grown from the DNA of the original person.

Enhanced Human Intelligence
Kurzweil posits that humanity is on the brink of the “fifth epoch” of intelligence, where human intelligence merges with machines. This will be triggered by the advent of human-level AI and brain-interface technologies like Elon Musk’s Neuralink.
In the years following 2029, Kurzweil predicts that human intelligence will increase exponentially as people connect directly to machines.
