In the wake of the first Democrat primary debate, people are weighing in with their thoughts. Several topics and policies matters came up on the debate stages last night and on Wednesday night. Americans on both sides of the aisle maintain various perceptions of the candidates and their performances.

One of these Americans who weighed in is President Trump himself. During Trump's time in Japan, he shared his thoughts on the current state of the Democrat Party. The president's remarks come after facing multiple attacks from various left-wing candidates.

What Does President Trump Think of the Democrat Party?

Put simply, the president believes that Democrats are the party of socialism. This is a popular view amongst conservatives who have issues with progressive policies. Trump's exact statements on socialism and the Democrat Party are as follows:

"That’s become like the Socialist Party. There’s a rumor the Democrats are going to change the name of the party from the 'Democrat Party' to the 'Socialist Party.'"

Trump furthermore stated that he has watched the debates from earlier this week and wasn't impressed by what he saw.

Are Democrats Becoming the Party of Socialists?

During the primary debates, several Democrat candidates eagerly declared that they do not identify as socialists. However, there are many Americans who beg to differ. Accusations of socialism against the Democrat Party have followed after extremely far-left policies.

Some of the policies in question include Medicare-for-All, the Green New Deal, reparations, etc. Individuals who lean right of center overwhelmingly maintain that these aforementioned policies would expand government, increase taxes, and worsen matters for the working class.

When it comes to funding various policies, certain Democrats have begrudgingly admitted that the middle class would, in fact, lose more money to taxes. However, in the same breath, candidates such as Sanders eagerly point to what they view as a positive and worthwhile tradeoff for people in this country.

As the election season continues, certain Democrats have concerns that moving radically to the left will sabotage their chances of victory. Nevertheless, progressives maintain that far left policies are the key to revitalizing America and defeating President Trump.
