Vinci To Buy Stake In Edinburgh Airport For £1.3B

In a bold stride towards expanding its aviation footprint, Vinci SA announced on Wednesday its intention to purchase a 50.01% stake in Edinburgh Airport for an impressive £1.27 billion ($1.58 billion). This move by the French infrastructure titan is aimed at capitalizing on the potential growth opportunities at Scotland’s foremost air travel hub.

Strategic Expansion Amidst Rising Passenger Numbers

Scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024, the acquisition by Vinci Airports from the current stakeholder, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), will place Vinci at the helm of Edinburgh’s bustling airport operations. GIP, retaining a 49.99% stake, has been at the control since 2012 and will continue its management role.

Vinci has been vocal about its attraction to Edinburgh Airport, citing the high traffic volumes and promising growth projections, especially in long-haul sectors. The company anticipates air traffic at the airport to rebound to pre-pandemic levels within the next year.
