The Weir Group PLC, a global leader in mining technology and solutions, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Townley Engineering & Manufacturing Co. Inc. and Townley Foundry & Machine Co. Inc. for an enterprise value of £111 million ($149 million USD). This strategic move strengthens Weir’s presence in North America, advancing the company’s goal to serve regional mining operations more effectively and sustainably.

The Weir Miner Expands North America £111M Townley Deal will be financed through debt and is subject to approval from U.S. antitrust regulators. Completion is anticipated in the third quarter of 2025.

Townley, headquartered in Ocala, Florida, is a recognized provider of wear and abrasion solutions for the mining sector, including proprietary pumps, valves, hoses, and rubber linings. Ocala is located in a region rich in phosphate resources—an industry projected to reach $50 billion by 2030, according to Market Research Future, driven by global agricultural demand.

Townley will be integrated into Weir’s North American operations within its Minerals Division, further reinforcing Weir’s commitment to operational excellence and innovation in mining.

Advisors on the deal include Butzel Long for Weir, with a legal team led by Justin Klimko and Jennifer Consiglio, and Trenam Law for Townley, led by Harold Mullis and Mike Reeves.

This transaction follows Weir’s recent acquisition of Australian digital mining software company Micromine for £624 million, reflecting the miner’s broader strategy to deliver smart, sustainable mining solutions worldwide.

Weir employs approximately 12,000 people across more than 50 countries and is committed to being “never more than 200 km from every major mine in the world.”
