Nationwide, all eyes are glued to the 2024 presidential election. However, of equal consequence are various congressional races happening across the United States.

In Florida, one of the most competitive elections remains ongoing in the state's 13th District. Here, Democrat Whitney Fox is challenging Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna.

Fox, a former transportation official of Pinellas County, has made inroads with voters across the political spectrum throughout her campaign. Central to her run are promises to prioritize reproductive rights and lower the costs of healthcare, food, and insurance.

Today, polling shows that Fox and Luna are in a dead heat. With less than two weeks left until November 5, the race could go either way.

A closer look at Fox's campaign to represent Florida's 13th district

While running to replace Luna in the US House of Representatives, Fox is consistently reaching out to the community, letting voters know via words and actions what she's all about.

On X, the Democratic candidate has photos and videos of her assisting Pinellas County residents in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Key parts of her work involve providing necessary supplies to members of the community and assisting with home cleanups. Moreover, she's advocating for a national natural disaster insurance and reinsurance program.

Not only is Fox sharing her plans and ideas with the people, but she's also stressed the danger of Luna remaining in Congress. Most recently, the Democratic challenger criticized Luna for voting against FEMA funding and attending a North Carolina Trump rally while Pinellas residents suffered post-Hurricane Milton.

Fox also called out the GOP incumbent for supporting a national abortion ban with zero exceptions for rape or incest. As a mother of two daughters, Fox has spoken in campaign ads about the danger strict abortion bans pose to her daughters, along with other women and girls.

All boots on the ground

Between now and November 5, the Fox campaign is hosting a series of canvasses and other campaign activities. During these events, supporters can knock on doors, encouraging the community to elect Fox and retire Luna. Every day is crucial, especially with early voting currently underway.

This morning, Whitney Fox also released a new campaign ad that underscores her vision for the future, while slamming Luna's "dangerous rhetoric" and fixation on "culture wars."
