Earlier today, President Trump suggested revoking the credentials for various mainstream media outlets, reports The Hill.

An Overview of the President’s Latest Suggestion

Earlier today, President Trump proposed the aforementioned revocation via Twitter:

“The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?”

The President’s battle with the press has remained ongoing since the inception of his entry into the 2016 election. Like his supporters, then-candidate Trump opined that the mainstream media intentionally misrepresented him. Trump and his backers maintained that “fake news” targeted him in order to sabotage his campaign. However, many of the President’s critics pushed back against the foregoing assertion. They furthermore stated that then-candidate Trump and his supporters simply didn’t like the press. Nevertheless, Americans of both opinions remain convinced of their own positions and largely at odds with one another.

Reactions to the President’s Latest Suggestion

President Trump’s proposal to rescind the credentials of the “fake news” media has engendered a variety of responses. While critics continue to slam the aforementioned tweet, many Trump supporters have highlighted what they view as problematic aspects of the press. The President’s backers moreover controverted his critics, stating that Trump gets slammed no matter what he says or does. Therefore, questions have been raised regarding the credibility of those who habitually condemn the President.

However, the detractors of the Commander-in-Chief are not backing down. Some have even suggested that revoking press credentials could be rooted in motivation to quiet the ongoing reports regarding Stormy Daniels and the legal battles of the President’s personal attorney, Michael Cohen.

Ultimately, the mere suggestion of removing the credentials of the mainstream media has Americans weighing in. Conversations and coverage of the foregoing suggestion are unlikely to cease anytime soon.

Readers of The Hill furthermore weighed in with their thoughts on President Trump’s aforementioned tweet:

”Why doesn't Trump just throw in the towel ... the amount of crap Cohen's raids will continue to reveal ... will end Trump's reign of Terror.”

”Trump will be around as President till Jan 2025.”

”Snowflake Trump stan needs a safe space from any negative thoughts about Trump. Just like the thin-skinned authoritarian himself.”

”I am so happy that Trump won the election.”

At this point in time, the credentials of the mainstream media remain in tact.
