Just over a week ago, the sports world was sent into arrears.

News broke that the Florida State Seminoles would not make it to the College Football Playoffs (CFP). This went viral online and sent sports fans into a justifiable outrage as they demanded answers for what really happened.

The backstory

So far, the CFP committee claims it has enough discretion over admission to consider factors like the presence of teammates during games. While one Seminoles quarterback did sustain an injury, the team found a replacement and brought home a win.

Sadly, that doesn't seem to matter much.

To say people aren't pleased with what's happened to the Seminoles is an understatement. Some believe more went on behind the scenes than what's being shared with the public.

Last week, a source also revealed that lawsuits against the CFP will soon come down the pipeline. At the end of the day, team players and sports fans alike want some accountability. The explanation citing an injured quarterback (who the team managed to successfully replace for the game) hasn't been well-received at all.

Remember, teams that haven't performed as well as the Seminoles were still let into the CFP.

The injunction

Given the current state of affairs, it seems likely that an injunction will be filed.

This injunction would ideally prevent the exclusion of the Seminoles from CFP until everything gets worked out in the courts. If the projected injunction filing goes through, it's also very likely that the CFP committee will attempt to fight it and uphold their decision.

Ultimately, there's no telling how far this thing could go. For now, the committee is showing no signs of walking back its decision. There's also been no further explanation about keeping FSU out, while allowing teams that performed poorly in comparison to make it to the playoffs.

In the meantime, sports fans should keep their eyes peeled for additional updates as this all plays out. Should legal action against the committee take place, it could very likely drag out for an untold period of time.

Amid the chaos, the Florida State Seminoles are now working to get their football schedule for 2025 fully squared away.
