Chinese Officials Phasing Out Intel and AMD Chips by 2027

Chinese officials have issued directives to the country’s largest telecom carriers. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal the government is instructing that foreign chips crucial to their networks be phased out by 2027.

This move, coupled with the blocking of Intel and AMD chips on Chinese government servers and computers, is set to impact U.S. chip giants Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

The directives come during heightened tensions between China and the United States. And Beijing is intensifying efforts to replace Western-made technology with domestic alternatives. 

The tightening of curbs on high-tech exports by Washington has spurred China’s drive towards self-sufficiency in critical industries.
