Since its appearance in 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has contributed to millions of job losses in the United States, and has put thousands of restaurants out of businesses.
However, according to the U.S. Census data, U.S. business formations surged by more than 42% in 2020. This is because people are still buying necessities such as food and office supplies despite the pandemic restriction. Now the pandemic have taught us that you can keep your day job while starting a side hustle and now is the perfect time to do so.

Launching a side hustle is a smart financial move and Americans are making the most out of it. This is because income diversity helps people get rid of the financial anxiety that the pandemic caused since it first appeared. According to State of Independence Report by MBO Partners, 56% of Americans said they’d be safer working for themselves than a traditional job in 2020, compared to 32% in 2011.

It’s important to mention that worrying about job loss isn’t the only reason why you should start a side hustle. This is because you can have a safe job future but still make extra bucks working on your own side hustle.

What side hustle is best for me?

Now you might be wondering, what side business can you do, and should it be related to your current career path?

There are thousands of niches that you can choose from when it comes to a side business. For instance, you can do a freelance project related to your current career, or you can start an eCommerce or dropshipping business from your home.

I’m not saying that it will be with a click of a button as there is lots of learning and skills included in this path. However, it won’t take you years of learning compared to other “normal day” careers. This is because side businesses usually tackle one specialty and it usually doesn’t take too long to get a grasp that allows you to start making income.

One important question is what problem do you want to solve, why, and how can you do it? For example, did you search for something in your area and never found it? Are people in need of that particular object? If so, then why not start providing it for people in your region with a website? Maybe you’re passionate about teaching English, then why not start doing it on websites that provide live in-person English lessons?

There are thousands if not hundreds of thousands of niches that you can choose from, and it all starts with why, how and when will you do it.
