We welcome your Sponsorship support for the 5th Annual “Bulls for Brooke” Charity Fishing Tournament on June 10, 2017 held at Pirate’s Cove Resort and Marina 4307 SE Bayview Street Stuart, FL 34997.Your monetary donation or in-kind sponsorship will help pave the way for a successful fishing tournament and fundraiser for Brooke Thabit, who recently suffered a severe spinal cord injury from a diving accident paralyzing her from the chest down. At the time of her accident Brooke was seventeen and a high school senior. She had been dual enrolled in college since 10th grade and completed her first year of college by the start of her senior year in high school. Despite the accident, Brooke completed her high school requirements on time, receiving her diploma with her graduating class in June 2013. Brooke is now enrolled in college working toward her degree. Before her injury Brooke was an avid surfer, surfing as a team rider at a local surf shop and providing community service by teaching Surfers for Autism and The Special Olympics. She is an upbeat person by nature and continues to keep her spirits high. In 2014, 15 and 16 she was selected as an ambassador for the “Wings For Life World Run”, a foundation established by Red Bull that funds spinal cord injury research. The Red Bull Air Force Team even took Brooke skydiving into the BB&T Center to announce the 2015 event Watch video. Brooke receives intense rehabilitation five days a week at a progressive local facility, Neurofit 360. Her physical therapists use manual gate training to walk Brooke on the treadmill, practice balance, lift weights to increase strength and independence and she has now begun to pedal a bike. She is truly committed to making a full recovery. Recovering from a spinal cord injury is not easy or short-term.
